Press Release: NESST Team Meets Vice-Chancellor QAU Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal to Discuss Future Collaboration

Islamabad, Pakistan – The Network for Security, Strategy and Technology (NESST) Institute team met with Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice-Chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, for an engaging exchange on issues of mutual interest and potential areas of future collaboration.
The discussion explored opportunities for strengthening engagement between academia and the policy community, particularly in the areas of strategic studies, international security, nuclear deterrence, emerging technologies, research, and capacity building. Both sides exchanged views on avenues for academic and research collaboration and initiatives aimed at promoting informed policy dialogue on contemporary security challenges.
NESST also expressed its sincere appreciation to Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal for participating as a distinguished guest in Episode 4 of NESST’s podcast series, Strategic Focus, titled “May 2025 Crisis & the Future of Nuclear Deterrence in South Asia.”
During the conversation, Dr. Jaspal shared his perspectives on the evolving nature of nuclear deterrence in South Asia, lessons from the May 2025 India–Pakistan crisis, crisis stability, diplomacy, below-threshold strategies, and the future of Pakistan’s deterrence posture.
